Craig Willinger Fund honors El Paso, Texas native fighting cancer with dream trip to Old Trafford

BALTIMORE, MD – The Craig Willinger fund proudly announces its 8th honoree. Eudom Moncada, 23, will travel to see Manchester United face Hull City at Old Trafford on May 6.

In 2011, Eudom was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer knows as DSRCT – desmoplastic small round cell tumor. In addition to surgery and radiation, he undergoes daily chemotherapy to fight this disease.

Eudom shared that cancer took away everything in his life just as he was stepping out on his own. A soccer fan in his youth, Eudom struggled with his diagnosis and treatment but found new friends through a church soccer league. Despite being extremely weak from treatment and surgery, this league welcomed him and he decided he would use soccer as emotional and physical therapy. “I learned to be patient with myself,” shared Eudom as he recounted not being able to run. He now plays three times a week.

The Craig Willinger Fund, formed in 2009, seeks to improve the lives of children and young adults stricken with cancer by providing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to experience world-class soccer – both domestically and abroad. CWFund is actively seeking application for future travel, as well as volunteer and community support. Visit www.cwfund.org for more information.
