Craig Willinger Fund honors Iowa teen fighting cancer with once-in-a-lifetime trip to the UEFA Champions League Final

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 27, 2016

BALTIMORE, MD – The Craig Willinger Fund (CWFund) proudly announces 17-year-old César Reveles of West Des Moines, Iowa as its 10th honoree. César and a guest will travel to the UEFA Champions League Final on May 28 in Milan, Italy.

César was diagnosed with recurrent stage four Hodgkin’s lymphoma in March 2014 and received a bone marrow transplant in July 2015. César’s health was very fragile post-transplant. So fragile in fact, that he was 24 hours away from needing a second transplant because of unresponsive blood counts. “I’ve been through a pretty hard journey with my diagnosis,” César shared with CWFund board members. “I really didn’t know if I would be here to talk to you.”

This amazing trip has been facilitated by Eddie Marles, Program Director of the Americas for A.C. Milan Junior Camps and by A.C. Milan. It is the first time that a Craig Willinger Fund honoree will attend the UEFA Champions League Final, one of the most prestigious club soccer events in the world.

The Craig Willinger Fund, formed in 2009, seeks to improve the lives of children and young adults stricken with cancer by providing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to experience world-class soccer—both domestically and abroad. CWFund is actively seeking applications for future travel, as well as volunteer and community support. Visit www.cwfund.org for more information.
