FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 28, 2013

BALTIMORE, MD – The Craig Willinger Fund proudly announces its second to trip to Madrid, Spain with 15-year-old cancer survivor Sandra Frangos. Sandra and her mother will travel to Spain on September 26th to see Real Madrid take on crosstown rival Atlético Madrid.

Sandra spent her entire 7th grade year being treated for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She’s overcome missing more than a year of school as well as being the target of bullies who singled her out for being a cancer patient. Although post-treatment complications have prevented Sandra from going back to playing the game she loves, her passion for soccer and Real Madrid has not diminished. She lives, breathes and sleeps Real Madrid, never missing a game or a chance to talk about “the best team in the world.”

“No one can question Sandra’s passion for the beautiful game,” said CWFund chairperson Emily Agueda. “She is a Madridista through and through, down to the decorations in her bedroom. We hope that this trip will show her life can be amazing, even after a cancer diagnosis.”

Travel, accommodation and game expenses for our honoree have been funded by a generous donation from Bolton Partners, an independent employee benefits consulting firm headquartered in Baltimore. In addition, passport expenses for the Frangos family were underwritten through a partnership with the We Believe Foundation, a Maryland-based organization dedicated to raising awareness and providing financial support for young cancer patients.

The Craig Willinger Fund, formed in 2009, seeks to improve the lives of children and young adults stricken with cancer by providing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to experience world-class soccer – both domestically and abroad. CWFund is actively seeking application for future travel as well as volunteer and community support. For application guidelines and donation information, go to www.cwfund.org.
